The Dang! Story
By Doug Voisin and Andrew Bayer
Our story dates back as far as 2003, when we both attended art school in Dallas. We had many classes together but never spoke, due to the fact that Andrew talks too much, and Doug finds that annoying. We began an internship together producing and styling fashion shows. Often, we were forced to look at tragic designs, such as broom skirts and concho belts. This made our stomachs hurt, so we decided to do something about our disgust. We began to collaborate on our own project. The project was named “House of Dang,” Doug + Andy = Dang.
We slaved over our sewing machines for quite some time building our aesthetic, as well as a friendship. Doug finally got over the fact that Andrew talks too much.
Now let’s fast forward a few years. In October of 2006, we decided that we were tired of working out of our living rooms and needed to open our own space. We launched a store called House of Dang! in Dallas. It is the home of our workspace; as well as a house for other independent designers, vintage finds, and random things.
We take our designs with a lightheartedness and sense of humor. We love to give girls the ability to use their imaginations by creating interchangeable separates. By mixing knits and wovens as well as bold colors and patterns, we think the label has a fresh take on fashion. So, please take off your jogging suit, and get some Dang! into your closet!
